Loren Dempster

Cellist

Loren Kiyoshi Dempster, born in Seattle, has degrees in cello performance from the University of Washington (BA/BM) and San Francisco Conservatory of Music (MM). Based in Bushwick, Brooklyn, he can be found performing with Anti-Social Music, Dan Joseph Ensemble, Rueben Radding String Quartet, Chris Woltmann String Quartet among many others.  He has played on North River Music Series, Magalhaes Music Series, Interpretations Series, New Constructions, American Composer's Alliance Festival and New Music at North Sixth.  He has created or performed music for many choreographers including Merce Cunningham, Chris Ferris, Catherine Kerr, Elke Rindfleisch, and Jeremy Wade. He currently teaches Traditional and Suzuki cello lessons, and is on the faculty of the Mozart Academy at NEST+m, Waldorf School of Garden City, and Music Conservatory of Westchester.
