Andrea La Rose (b. 1972 ) was born and raised in Nashua, NH. Her formal musical training began at age 7 with private flute lessons. Since then she has obtained a Bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, a Master of Music degree in composition from the Boston Conservatory, has gone on exchange to Freiburg, Germany twice, and is presently working towards a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at CUNY’s Graduate Center. She has studied flute with Joanne Tanner, Dan Riley, and Marianne Gedigian, and composition with Karen Tarlow, Larry Thomas Bell, Tania León, Bernadette Speach, and David Olan. Her works have been performed at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Rice University, the University of Cincinnati’s Music ‘98 festival, the Boston Conservatory, Brooklyn College, CUNY’s Graduate Center, Greenwich Music School (NYC), Galapagos (Brooklyn) and in the Nashua, NH and Massapequa Park, NY school systems. She has performed on prestigious subway platforms in Boston and New York, and has also been heard in a few other venues around New York City, with the Choro Ensemble and Anti Social Music.
